Terms & Policies

Effective May 2026 · Applies to the SoLangu mobile application and related services published by Softaar Technologies UG (haftungsbeschränkt).

These Terms of Use govern your use of SoLangu. By downloading, installing, or using SoLangu you agree to these Terms. Our Privacy Policy is included in Section 15 of this document.

1. Registration and Accessibility

Age Requirement

To use SoLangu, you must be at least 13 years old. In EU member states, you must be at least 16 years old, or the minimum age of digital consent in your country. Users under 18 require permission from a parent or legal guardian to use the app.

Account Registration

To create an account and access the Services, you must provide accurate and complete information. Your account credentials must not be shared with or used by others. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. If you register on behalf of another individual or entity, you must be authorized to agree to these Terms on their behalf.

App Availability

SoLangu is available on Android via Google Play and on iOS via the Apple App Store. We may limit, suspend, or discontinue access to the app or specific features at any time for maintenance, legal compliance, or business reasons.

2. What You're Not Allowed to Do

SoLangu must not be used for illegal, harmful, or abusive purposes. Specifically, you must not:

  • Infringe, violate, or misappropriate the rights of others through use of the app.
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or uncover the source code, algorithms, or models behind SoLangu.
  • Extract data or AI outputs from SoLangu programmatically or in bulk without written permission.
  • Use SoLangu to generate or transmit illegal, harmful, harassing, or abusive content.
  • Misrepresent AI-generated content as human-generated where disclosure is required.
  • Disrupt, circumvent, or bypass security measures or rate limits within the app.
  • Use the app to create a competing language learning service.
  • Impersonate any person or entity or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the SoLangu platform or its infrastructure.

3. Third-Party Services

SoLangu incorporates third-party software, APIs, and services — including Firebase, OpenAI, Brevo, Flutter WebRTC, Google Play Billing, and others — each governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the practices or content of these third-party services.

By using SoLangu, you also agree to comply with the terms of the third-party providers whose services are used to deliver features you access. A detailed list of providers and their roles is in Section 16.

Feedback

Your feedback, suggestions, and ideas about SoLangu are valuable to us. We reserve the right to use your feedback to improve the app without any obligation to compensate you.

4. Content Responsibilities

Your Input

You may provide input to SoLangu — including voice recordings, text messages, and practice content ("Input") — and receive AI-generated or system-generated output ("Output"). You are responsible for ensuring your Input does not violate applicable laws, third-party rights, or these Terms.

Ownership

You retain ownership rights to your Input. AI-generated Output produced specifically for you in your session is made available for your personal language learning use.

Our Content Usage

We may use content and session data to improve SoLangu, comply with law, enforce these Terms, and ensure platform safety. We will not use your voice recordings or AI conversation content for public display or marketing without your explicit written consent.

Microphone and Voice Content

Some features of SoLangu require access to your device's microphone. You are responsible for ensuring that any voice content you record or transmit complies with applicable laws, including laws regarding recording conversations with other parties.

5. Accuracy and AI Limitations

Nature of AI

SoLangu uses AI-powered features including an AI language tutor. AI systems are probabilistic in nature and may produce outputs that are inaccurate, incomplete, or inconsistent. As AI and machine learning technology evolves, we continuously work to improve accuracy and reliability.

Output Caveats

AI-generated language feedback, corrections, and tutor responses should not be relied upon as the sole source of truth for professional, legal, or certified language assessment purposes. We recommend verifying critical language information from qualified professionals where needed.

Disclaimer

Incomplete, incorrect, or unexpected AI output does not reflect the views of Softaar Technologies UG. References to languages, cultures, or third-party content in AI output do not imply our endorsement of that content.

6. Intellectual Property Rights

All rights, titles, and interests in SoLangu — including its design, code, AI models, features, and branding — are owned by Softaar Technologies UG and its licensors. Nothing in these Terms transfers any ownership rights to you.

Use of the SoLangu name, logo, or branding in any external context is only permitted with prior written authorization from Softaar Technologies UG.

7. Subscription and Payment

Billing

SoLangu offers premium subscription plans. When purchasing a subscription, you must provide accurate billing information through the applicable payment platform — Google Play Billing on Android or Apple In-App Purchases (App Store) on iOS. For subscription plans, you will be automatically billed at each renewal period until you cancel. Applicable taxes will be charged. If payment fails, your account may be downgraded or access to premium features suspended.

Subscription Auto-Renewal Disclosure: SoLangu subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the rate of the confirmed subscription price. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time:

  • iOS: Go to Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → SoLangu
  • Android: Open Google Play Store → Menu → Subscriptions → SoLangu

Payment Processing

Payments are processed by Google Play Billing (Android), Apple In-App Purchases / StoreKit (iOS), and/or third-party subscription management providers such as RevenueCat. Softaar Technologies UG does not store your full credit card, debit card, or banking information.

Cancellation Policy

You may cancel your subscription at any time through Google Play settings (Android) or your iPhone/iPad's subscription settings (iOS), or via your device's subscription management. Payments made are non-refundable except as required by applicable law. In the EU, mandatory consumer withdrawal rights may apply and take precedence over these Terms.

Pricing Changes

We may modify subscription pricing. New prices will apply from the next renewal period, with advance notice provided. You may cancel if you disagree with a price increase.

Free Tier

SoLangu may offer a free tier with limited features. Free tier features, limits, and availability are subject to change at our discretion.

Free Trial

Certain subscription plans include a free trial period (currently 3 days). You will not be charged during the free trial. If you do not cancel before the trial ends, the subscription will automatically begin and you will be charged the subscription price. You can cancel during the trial period at any time using the subscription management steps above. Only one free trial per Apple ID or Google account is permitted.

End User License Agreement (EULA)

These Terms of Use serve as the End User License Agreement (EULA) between you and Softaar Technologies UG for use of the SoLangu mobile application on iOS and Android. For iOS users, Apple is not a party to this EULA and is not responsible for SoLangu or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for SoLangu. In the event of any failure of SoLangu to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for the app. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to SoLangu. Any product liability, consumer protection, privacy, or intellectual property claims are governed by this EULA and applicable law, not by Apple.

8. Termination and Suspension

Account Termination

You may stop using SoLangu at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access or delete your account if:

  • Legal compliance requires it.
  • Your use poses a risk or harm to Softaar Technologies UG, other users, or third parties.
  • You violate these Terms or use the app for abusive, illegal, or harmful purposes.
  • Your account has been inactive for an extended period without an active subscription.

Appeals

If you believe your account was wrongfully suspended or terminated, you may appeal by contacting us at contact@softaar.com.

9. Warranty Disclaimer

The SoLangu app and its services are provided "as is." Softaar Technologies UG, along with its affiliates and licensors, disclaims all warranties — express or implied, including statutory warranties — related to the app and its services, unless such disclaimers are legally prohibited. This includes warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, satisfactory quality, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. We make no guarantees that the app will be continuously available or that content will not be lost. Use of the app and its AI features is at your own risk.

10. Limitation of Liability

Softaar Technologies UG and its affiliates or licensors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or interruption of service, even if we have been informed of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability under these Terms will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim or €100. These limitations apply only to the fullest extent permitted by law.

In jurisdictions where certain warranties or damage limitations are not permitted — including under EU consumer protection laws — these terms may not fully apply. In such cases, our liability is limited to the greatest extent legally permissible.

11. Indemnity Agreement

Businesses or organizations using SoLangu agree, where legally permissible, to indemnify and protect Softaar Technologies UG, its affiliates, and its personnel against any expenses, losses, liabilities, and legal fees resulting from third-party claims arising from your use of the app, your Content, or any violation of these Terms.

12. Dispute Resolution

Governing Law

German law, excluding conflict-of-laws principles, governs these Terms. For consumers in the EU, mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence may also apply.

Informal Resolution

Before initiating formal legal proceedings, both parties agree to attempt informal resolution. Notices should be sent to contact@softaar.com. If unresolved within 60 days, either party may initiate formal proceedings.

EU Online Dispute Resolution

The European Commission provides a platform for online dispute resolution (ODR): ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. We are not obliged to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

Jurisdiction

All related claims must be filed in the courts of Dresden, Germany, except where mandatory consumer laws require otherwise.

14. General Terms

Non-Transferability

You cannot transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms. We may transfer our rights and obligations to any affiliated entity or successor.

Updates to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time due to legal, security, or service development reasons. Significant changes will be communicated at least 30 days in advance through in-app notifications or email. Continued use of SoLangu after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

Enforcement and Validity

Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms is not a waiver of our rights. If any section is deemed invalid or unenforceable, it will be enforced to the fullest extent allowed without affecting the validity of other sections.

Compliance with Trade Laws

You must comply with all applicable trade laws, sanctions, and export controls. SoLangu must not be used in or exported to any country or by any party prohibited under applicable laws.

Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy (Section 15), represent the full agreement between you and Softaar Technologies UG regarding your use of SoLangu and supersede all prior agreements.

Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the SoLangu mobile application and its related services. It explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. A standalone version is also available at softaar.com/solangu/privacy/.

15.2 What We Collect (and Where It Comes From)

Account and profile data

  • Name or display name — provided by you
  • Email address — provided by you
  • Authentication identifier (e.g., Firebase user ID) — generated on registration
  • Profile preferences: target language, learning level, practice goals — provided by you

App usage and learning activity

  • App interactions and feature usage
  • Session history and learning progress
  • Speaking practice activity and results
  • Subscription and premium access status
  • Error logs and diagnostic data — from automated systems

Voice and AI conversation data

  • Voice input or audio when you use speaking practice, AI tutor, or calling features — only when actively used with microphone permission granted
  • Transcribed text or conversation content — when required to provide feedback
  • Call and session metadata: duration, connection status, technical quality — from calling infrastructure
  • AI conversation history — where needed for continuity, feedback, or support

Payment and subscription data

  • Subscription plan, purchase status, renewal and cancellation status
  • Transaction identifiers from Google Play Billing (Android), Apple In-App Purchases / StoreKit (iOS), and/or RevenueCat
  • Softaar does not store full payment card details — payment processing is handled by Google Play Billing, Apple App Store, and/or RevenueCat

Device and technical data

  • Device type, OS version, app version — from your device
  • Crash logs and performance data — from automated systems
  • IP address or approximate location — from hosting, analytics, or security services

Support and communication data

  • Emails or messages sent to Softaar support
  • Account deletion and data subject request details

15.3 Why We Use It

  • Create and manage your account — contract with you
  • Provide language learning features, AI tutor conversations, and speaking practice — contract with you
  • Enable voice-based sessions and human-to-human calling — contract with you
  • Personalize your learning experience based on goals and progress — contract / legitimate interest
  • Process and manage subscriptions and premium access — contract with you
  • Monitor and improve app performance and reliability — legitimate interest
  • Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and misuse — legitimate interest / legal obligation
  • Send service notifications (account, subscription, security alerts) — contract / legitimate interest
  • Send product updates and marketing emails — your consent (unsubscribe any time)
  • Provide customer support — legitimate interest
  • Comply with legal and regulatory obligations — legal obligation

15.4 Microphone, Audio, and AI Features

  • Permission-based only: SoLangu requests microphone access only for voice-based features — speaking practice, AI tutor conversations, and live language calls. The app does not access or record audio in the background.
  • Audio processing: When you use voice features, your audio input or transcribed speech may be sent to OpenAI (AI tutor), Flutter WebRTC infrastructure (live calling), or speech recognition providers to deliver the feature.
  • AI tutor conversations: Your voice input and/or transcribed text is processed by OpenAI's API to generate real-time language tutor responses. Conversation history may be temporarily retained to provide session continuity and learning feedback.
  • Live calling: Real-time audio calls between users are routed through Flutter WebRTC infrastructure. Call audio is transmitted in real time and not stored by Softaar unless explicitly stated for a specific feature.
  • Revoking permission: You can disable microphone access via your device's OS settings at any time. Voice-based features will not function without microphone permission.

15.5 Who We Share It With

We do not sell your personal data.

We share data with third-party service providers only where necessary to operate SoLangu, as described in Section 16. Key categories:

  • AI processing (OpenAI): Voice input and transcribed text for AI tutor responses.
  • Calling infrastructure (Flutter WebRTC): Real-time audio routing for live language calls.
  • Email (Brevo): Transactional emails (OTP, welcome, account notifications) and marketing communications.
  • Payments (Google Play Billing, Apple In-App Purchases, RevenueCat): Subscription management and transaction processing on Android and iOS.
  • Analytics (Firebase Analytics): Anonymized usage data to understand and improve the app.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose data if required by law, regulation, or enforceable governmental request.

15.6 Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

  • Art. 6(1)(b) — Performance of contract: Core app features, account management, subscriptions.
  • Art. 6(1)(a) — Consent: Microphone/audio access, marketing emails, optional analytics.
  • Art. 6(1)(f) — Legitimate interests: Security monitoring, fraud prevention, crash reporting, service improvement.
  • Art. 6(1)(c) — Legal obligation: Financial, tax, and regulatory compliance.

15.7 How Long We Keep It

  • Account data: Retained while your account is active.
  • Subscription and payment records: Retained as required by law for tax, financial, and fraud prevention purposes.
  • Support communications: Retained for a reasonable period for customer service and legal compliance.
  • Voice data and AI conversations: Retained only as long as necessary to deliver the feature and improve quality. Real-time call audio is not stored beyond the session.
  • Analytics data: Retained in anonymized or aggregated form.

15.8 Account and Data Deletion

You may request deletion of your SoLangu account and personal data at any time.

How to request deletion:

Email contact@softaar.com with subject "SoLangu Account Deletion Request" including the email address linked to your SoLangu account. We will process your request in accordance with applicable law. Records legally required to be retained (payment, tax, fraud prevention, security) may be kept in restricted storage.

15.9 Your Rights under GDPR

  • Access (Art. 15): Request a copy of your personal data.
  • Rectification (Art. 16): Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erasure (Art. 17): Request deletion of your data.
  • Restriction (Art. 18): Request restricted processing in certain circumstances.
  • Portability (Art. 20): Receive your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Object (Art. 21): Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
  • Withdraw consent: Withdraw previously given consent at any time.
  • Lodge a complaint: File a complaint with the Sächsische Datenschutz- und Transparenzbeauftragte (SDT) or any other competent supervisory authority.

15.10 Children's Privacy

SoLangu is not intended for children under the age of 13. Where EU law applies, SoLangu is not intended for children below the age at which parental consent is required unless such consent has been obtained. Softaar does not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware of such data, we will delete it promptly. Contact contact@softaar.com if you believe a child's data has been collected.

15.11 International Data Transfers

Softaar is based in Germany. Some service providers — including OpenAI, Firebase, RevenueCat, and Brevo — may process data on servers outside Germany or the EEA, including in the United States. Where data is transferred outside the EEA, we use Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or other GDPR-approved safeguards.

15.12 Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS), access controls, secure cloud infrastructure, crash and error monitoring, and limited internal access to personal data. No system is perfect — use a strong password and avoid sharing sensitive personal information in AI conversations.

15.13 Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy by posting the latest version at softaar.com/solangu/terms-and-policies/ and softaar.com/solangu/privacy/. Where changes are material, we will notify you via in-app notification or email.

16. Third-Party Services Details

OpenAI — AI Language Tutor

SoLangu uses the OpenAI API to power its AI language tutor feature. When you use the AI tutor, your voice input (after speech-to-text conversion) and text messages are sent to OpenAI's API to generate language tutor responses. Data submitted to OpenAI is processed in accordance with OpenAI's usage policies. We do not use your data to train OpenAI's models under the current API terms.

Flutter WebRTC — Real-Time Audio Calling

Real-time audio calls between users (human-to-human language practice sessions) are built using Flutter WebRTC. WebRTC transmits audio peer-to-peer or via relay servers in real time. Call session metadata (duration, connection status, technical quality) may be logged for reliability and support purposes. Call audio is transmitted in real time and is not stored by Softaar beyond the session unless explicitly required by a specific feature.

Brevo — Email Communications

We use Brevo (formerly Sendinblue) to send transactional emails (account verification, OTP, welcome messages, subscription notifications) and marketing communications. By providing your email address, you consent to having your name and email processed by Brevo for this purpose. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us.

Firebase (Google) — Backend Infrastructure

SoLangu uses Firebase services including: Firebase Authentication (account management), Firebase Firestore (database), Firebase Storage (file storage), Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications), Firebase Crashlytics (crash reporting), and Google Analytics for Firebase (usage analytics). Firebase services are provided by Google Ireland Limited.

Google Play Billing, Apple In-App Purchases & RevenueCat — Subscriptions

In-app subscription purchases on Android are processed by Google Play Billing. On iOS, subscriptions are processed through Apple In-App Purchases (StoreKit)via the App Store. RevenueCat is used to manage subscription status, entitlements, and renewals across both Android and iOS platforms. Softaar does not store your full payment card details. Subscription and transaction records are processed in accordance with each provider's privacy policy.

Google Analytics for Firebase — App Analytics

We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how users interact with SoLangu, including feature engagement, retention, and screen flow. Analytics data is used in aggregated or anonymized form to guide product improvements.
